Startupi: With investment, Jánamesa expands its service to Rio, and intends to get to Porto Alegre, BH and Brasilia
Jánamesa, online delivery service that unifies restaurants and snack bars in a portal, is expanding its services to Rio de Janeiro and is expected to reach Porto Alegre, Belo Horizonte and Brasília still in 2013. In late 2012, the company received a new investment, led by Otto Capital Partners, with two other private investors, totaling $ 1.5 million.
Bruno Mengatti, CEO of Jánamesa, says that the activities in Rio will begin in the first week of March and the service arrives in Rio with 150 establishments registered already - it is expected to expand this number to a thousand by the end of the year. The expansion performance of the service also focuses on the host cities of the 2014 World Cup, according to a statement issued by the site. The idea is to expand the operations to the host cities until 2014, when the company expects to be processing more than a thousand requests per month.
The startup was founded in April 2012 by Mengatti and Mountain do Brazil. In São Paulo, the site has already registered 1,200 restaurants. Nicolas Gautier, managing partner of Mountain do Brazil says that he decided to invest on Jánamesa by "seeing an opportunity in the market where is possible to innovate and differentiate to offer a new and better service."
